Delbert Scheffert
Delbert Scheffert, son of Yvo and Vivian (Schroeder) Scheffert, was born October 17, 1938 in Monona, Iowa. He died Tuesday, June 13, 1995. He was 56 years old.
Delbert was employed as a farm laborer. He was a member of the Monona AmVets Post 27. He was also an avid Cubs fan, and enjoyed softball, cards, fishing, the outdoors and farming.
Preceding him in death were his father, Yvo, who died in 1987; his mother, Vivian, who died in 1993, and a brother, Robert.
Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Frank (Yvonne) Palmer of Des Moines, Pat Lumbus of Oelwein and Mrs. Arno (Josephine) Schlitter of Luana; four brothers, Ronald Scheffert of Ely, Burdette Scheffert and David Scheffert, both of Oelwein, and Stanley Scheffert of Prairie du Chien, Wis., many cousins, nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 16, 1995 at Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona. Rev. Jeffrey Ruetten officicated. Pall bearers were Dick Koehn, Roger Landt, Dennis Soride, Scott Heying, Ralph Bacon, and Doug Schrader. Burial was in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Luana. Military rites were accorded by Monona AmVets Post 27 and American Legion Leslie H. Smith Post 519 led by Commander Frederick Heins.
