Augusta Frieda Schlee

Augusta Frieda Schlee, daughter of Christian and Mary (Hammon) Wintrick, was born January 8, 1911 in Franklin Township. She died Sunday, October 29, 1995 at the Prairie Memorial Hospital, Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.

She received her education in the Cherry Valley and Red Schools. Augusta was united in marriage to Arch Webster on August 4, 1930. To this union four children were born, Robert, Margaret and twins, Vernie and Vernon. On December 27, 1958 she was united in marriage to Walter Schlee at St. John's Lutheran Church, Luana, Iowa. Augusta cooked and washed at the County Institution for the Mentally Challenged. She also washed for truckers when she worked for George Wolters at Luana. She lived in McGregor and Monona. Augusta enjoyed bowling.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Robert Webster; one sister, May and one great-grandchild, Jennifer Austin.

Survivors include her husband, Walter; two daughters, Margaret and her husband, Norman Mueller of Luana, and Vernie Ellis of Owasso, Michigan; one son, Vernon Webster and his wife, Kathy of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin; 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 1, 1995 at Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona. Rev. Jeff Reutten officiated. Honorary pallbearers were Bobby Dean Allert and Virgil Kurth. Active pallbearers were Eugene Mueller, Dave Mueller, Brian Martins, Michael Webster, Dave Boylen and Travis Boylen. Schultz's Funeral Home of Monona was in charge of services. Burial was in the Union Cemetery, Littleport, Iowa.
