Funeral services for Mrs. Clem Waters were held Saturday, Dec. 8, 1:30 p.m. in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. The Rev. Julius L. Peterson officiated. Dr. Patrick Waters was the soloist, accompanied by Mrs. Bernard Martins. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Interment was in the Postville Cemetery.

Bernice Nina Waters, daughter of Fred C. and Elizabeth (Fisher) Eberling, was born January 29, 1906 at Postville, IA. She died Wednesday, Dec 5, 1990 in the Aase Haugen home, Decorah.

She was baptized May 13, 1906 by the Rev. M. O. Puhl and confirmed Sept. 5, 1920 by the Rev. E. Schmidt. Bernice was graduated from Postville High School and received a Bachelor Degree in Home Economics from Simpson College, Indianola, IA. She taught at Ellsworth, IA from Aug. 1928 until June 1929.

On August 27, 1929 she married Clement Henry Waters at Clermont with Father Hehir officiating. The couple had 4 children. They farmed in Grand Meadow Township until 1966, when they moved to Postville.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the Women of the ELCA and a member of the Prosperous Ridge Club.

She is preceded in death by a son, John, who died in 1962, a granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann Kermgard, who died in 1963, 3 brothers, Harold, Eli and Verni Eberling and 3 sisters, Ellen Mohs, Addie Gahagan and Jennie Goldsworth.

Surviving are her husband, Clem, who resides in the Aase Haugen Home, Decorah; a son, William C. Waters, Mt. Clemens, MI; 2 daughters, Eva E. Kermgard, Rockwille, MD and Joyce (Mrs. Gilbert Moore), Spokane, WA; 9 grandchild; and 7 great-grandchildren.

Casket bearers: Dr. Steven Waters, Michael Waters, Dr. Patrick Waters, Jean Waters, Dr. Mark Kermgard, David.
