Leonard Waters Passes On Suddenly. One of the saddest deaths we have had to chronicle for some time is that of Leonard Waters, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Waters, which occurred last Thursday morning at his farm home four and one-half miles southeast of Postville, and one mile east of his birthplace. About two weeks ago Leonard contracted influenza from which he was not recovering satisfactorily. About seven o'clock on the morning of October 22 he went to the well house to measure the water in the supply cistern, a duty he performed weekly. Just what happened will never be known, but from all appearances he had measured the water and reached for the cover to close the cistern and fell in. No water was found in his lungs, so it is evident that death came to him before he reached the water. Born August 14, 1898, Leonard grew to splendid manhood, genial, kindly and honest. He had made many friends, who attested their admiration and esteem by the large attendance at the last rites held at St. Peter's church in Clermont on Saturday morning, Rev. J.F. McCaffery officiating. He was married on November 18, 1925, to Milda Schultz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. August Schultz, and she with two children, Dorothy Ann, aged four years, and Jimmy, aged four months, survive. These with his father and mother, six brothers, six sisters and other relatives will have the sympathy of many sorrowing friends. The brothers are Bernard and Clement, residing on adjoining farms; Ambrose, Bertie, and Paul at home and Louis of Chicago. The sisters are Mrs. Wm. A. Kneeland and Mrs. Homer Leui of Clermont. He was laid to rest in St. Peter's Catholic cemetery at Clermont.
