STANLEY GENE PALAS

Funeral services for Stanley Gene Palas were held Wednesday, January 2, 1980, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Monona, with Msgr. Donald Heineman officiating. Pallbearers were Bill McArdle, Jim Chamberlain, Tom Maier, Leo King, Jim Howard, Shade Essem, Roger Schutte and Milton Schutte. Burial was in St. Wenceslaus Cemetery in rural McGregor.

Stanley Gene Palas, the son of Glenn E. and LaNida (Nevermann) Palas, was born March 11, 1950 at Farmersburg. He received his education in the M-F-L school district. He joined the Marines in 1967 and was discharged in 1971, having served in Vietnam.

On July 17, 1971, he was united in marriage with Marcia Ambrose. To this union two children were born, Randy and Nicole. He was a life member of the Amvets and a member of Holy Ghost Parish of Dickeyville, Wisc.

He owned and operated Stan's Midwest Garage in Postville for 1 1/2 years. He also lived in Epworth for a year before moving to Dickeyville in 1974. For the last 3 1/2 years he has been working as Fleet Superintendant for Midwest Express of Dubuque.

He died Sunday, December 30, 1979, as a result of a pickup accident in Potosi Township, Grant County, Wisconsin. He reached the age of 29 years, 9 months and 19 days.

Preceeding him in death were his grandparents.

Surviving him are his wife, Marcia of Dickeyville, Wisc., his son Randy Gene, age 6; his daughter, Nicole Lynn, age 4, both at home; his parents, Glenn and LaNida Palas of Luana; three sisters, Mrs. Ray (Sandra) Bertenshaw of Cicero, Ill., Mrs. Rod (Patty) Pritchard, and Dawn, both of Luana; two brothers, Donald and Dave of Postville, and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
