Column TwoMRS. PATRICK WELCH OBITUARY NOTICE
Mary Dolan was born in County Kilkenny, Ireland, February 12, 1844, and came to America with her people at the age of four years, landing in New York where they remained two years. In 1850 they came west, locating at Garnavillo and later in Volga township for a time, after which the subject of this sketch was united in marriage with Patrick Welch. They located on a farm north of Elkader in Boardman township, where Mr. Welch died. In 1897the family went to Elkader to reside, but in 1903 they came to Oelwein where the deceased departed this life Friday evening in her sixty-fifth year.
She is survived by two daughters, Anna and Katie, and four sons, Henry, James, John and Joseph, and a sister, Mrs. Patrick Conley, and other relatives. Funeral services were held in the Sacred Heart church Monday forenoon, Rev. P. S. O’Connor officiating, also in St. Joseph’s church in Elkader, Tuesday conducted by Rev. J. F. Reilly, her former pastor. Her children and other kindred mourn the loss of a good mother, and the abiding sympathy of neighbors and friends is with them. Peace to her soul is the wish of all
