Melva Mae Wagner was born September 7, 1926, the daughter of Elmer and Leona (Kraus) Nading, in Clayton County, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Monona, by Pastor R.C. Schleuter. She received her education in the Monona and McGregor schools, graduating from McGregor.
On September 27, 1945 she was united in marriage to Elmer Wagner at St. Paul's parsonage by Pastor Schleuter. To this union two children were born.
Elmer and Melva farmed near McGregor until they retired to Monona in 1982. She was a member of Faith Circle of the ALCW. She died December 5, 1984 at Central Community Hospital, Elkader, after an extended illness.
Preceding her in death was her father.
Surviving are her husband Elmer, her son Allen, her daughter Mrs. Michael (Wendy) Bentien, both of Monona, her mother, Leona Schmidt, Prairie du Chien, Wisc., two brothers, Marvin Nading, Elkader, Dwain Nading, McGregor, two sisters, Marce Gregerson, Prairie du Chien, and Eunice Carlson, McGregor, five grandchildren, Heidi Bentien, Michelle Bentien, Katie Wagner, Sharon Bentien, and Megan Wagner, all of Monona.
