VOELZ, HELLER, KNAPP, SCHRADER, WATTERS, KRUEGER, KREGEL

Carl Voelz, son of Albert and Emilie Heller Voelz, was born January 2, 1901, at Monona, Iowa. He received his education in the rural schools of Monona and Luana, Iowa. He was confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church, Farmersburg.

Carl was united in marriage to Olive Knapp on December 16, 1925. On March 30, 1940 he married Hazel Schrader at the Little Brown Church at Nashua, Iowa.

Carl farmed in the McGregor and Luana area, retiring in 1975.

He died Tuesday, December 1, 1992 at the Great River Care Center, McGregor, Iowa. He had reached the age of 91 years, 10 months and 29 days.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Hazel, who died January 27, 1988; two sisters, Ida and Martha; and a brother, Reinhold.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Carlton Lee and Edna Watters of Swaledale, Iowa; four grandchildren and none great-grandchildren, all of Swaledale; a sister, Marie Krueger of Farmersburg, Iowa; a step-son, Ralph Schrader of Arizona; nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Thursday, December 3, 1992, at 11:00 a.m. at the Garden City United Methodist church, Monona, Iowa. Rev. Gary Dobbins officiated. Organist was Ric Benzing. Pallbearers were Daniel Watters, Steve Watters, Carlton John Watters, DeWayne Watters, Ivan Krueger and Eldon Kregel. Burial was in the Luana City Cemetery. Schultz's Funeral Home of Monona, Iowa was in charge of services.
