ROSE, MUHLENHAUPT, FORNES, MEANAN, BLAND, SELIX, GESKE

John W. Rose, 87, of Readlyn, Iowa, formally (sic) of McGregor, Iowa, died Thursday, September 5, 1991 at the Waverly Municipal Hospital, Waverly, IA.

He was born May 4, 1904, at Sumner, Iowa, to William and Augusta Muhlenhaupt Rose. He married Mabel Sylvia Fornes April 23, 1931. He worked on the railroad and farmed in the McGregor area for 45 years. Mabel died February 14, 1983.

John Rose is survived by one son, John Rose, of Readlyn, IA; two daughters, June Meanan of Mountain Home, AK, and Shirley Bland, Marquette, IA; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Martha Selix, Waterloo, IA and Zeta Geske, Myrtle Creek, OR.

Funeral services were held Sunday, September 8, at 1 p.m. at Thornburg's Funeral Home, McGregor, with Pastor Leslie Ann Watkins officiating. Burial was in the Luana Cemetery, Luana, IA.

Pallbearers were Don McShane, Don Havelick, Wayne Ferguson, G.H. Ploog, Merle Freeman and Dave Holbmaier.
