Mrs. F.W. Eaton of Long Beach, Calif., sends us the following obituary of Miss Maggie Turner, who was well known in Postville through her long residence here with the G.E. Eaton family.
Margaret Turner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Turner, was born in Monona, Clayton Co., Iowa, May 2, 1873, and passed to her reward in Long Beach, Calif., Sept. 2, 1927, aged 54 years and four months.
In her young life she became a member of the Methodist church and Epworth League.
Preceding her in death were her mother in 1882 and her father in 1915, three sisters and a brother. She is survived by two brothers, W.E. Turner of Cedar Rapids and F.L. Turner of Eagle River, Wis., and a number of nephews and nieces in the east.
She had made her home with Mr. and Mrs. G.E. Eaton for over 20 years and they have given her loing care and devotion.
She was a member of the Woman's Relief Corps, Foreign Missionary Society and Bennett Union W.C.T.U. and its faithful secretary for over two years. She leaves a host of friends to mourn her loss. Six years ago she came to Long Beach, which has since been her home.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Sept 6th from McFayden Mission Funeral Home, Rev. Don Ford, pastor of the Atlantic M.E. Church officiating. Mrs. H. Seret and Mrs. T. Jossle sang as duets "Abide With Me" and "Asleep in Jesus." Members of the W.C.T.U. attended in a body. Beautiful flowers were an expression of the esteem in which she was held. Interment took place in Central Memorial Park in Orange county.
