LOUIS FRANK LENTH

Funeral services for Louis Lenth, 80, were held Saturday, Feb. 23, 1985 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church Postville. Rev. Julius Peterson officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Luana.

Louis Frank Lenth, son of John P. and Dorothea (Harnack) Lenth, was born October 18, 1904 south of Luana in Clayton County Iowa. He died Feb. 21 at Community Memorial Hospital in Postville.

He was baptized Dec. 11, 1904 at St. John Lutheran Church in Luana and confirmed there May 23, 1920. He attended the rural schools of Monona Township. Louis had been a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church since 1958.

May 26, 1926 he was married to Marie Landt at the home of her parents. They had three daughters, Delores, Dorothy and Deian.

They farmed in the Luana area for many years until his retirement when they moved to Postville. He was employed as a carpenter for many years.

He is preceded in death by a daughter, Delores (Mrs. James Hansel), two grandchildren, Alan and Julie Jarmes, four brothers, John, Ernest, Gus and Wilbert, and two sisters, Ella Jarms and Hilda Miller. His sister, Esther Palas, a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in Postville, died several hours after Louis, on the same day.

Surviving besides his wife, Marie, are two daughters, Dorothy (Mrs. James Jarmes) of Postville and Deian (Mrs. John Conner) of Bettendorf, five grandchildren, Kendal, Steve and Gary Jarmes and Chad and Kelly Conner, two brothers, Herbert and Elmer Lenth of Monona and a sister, Nora (Mrs. Vern Haberichter) also of Monona.

Casket bearers were Tim Seabrooke, Neil Landt, Robert Roffman, Wilbert Lenth, Jr., Vernis Haberichter and Milo Meyer.

Honorary Casket Bearers were Bernard Waters, Gerwin Martins, Ray Zweibohmer and Elmer Krambeer.
