I am not related and have no further information, this is taken from an old scrapbook that belonged to Mrs. Clara (Jones) McCartney

Mrs. Almira Blake Remains Buried Here Wed.,
Feb. 2
Almira Virginia Speed, daughter of George and Lucy Speed, was born in Wayne County, New York, May 6, 1855, and died in Arlington, Iowa, January 31, 1938, at the age of 82 years, 8 months and 25 days.

She came to Iowa from New York state, when only a child two years of age, and settled in Dubuque county, later moving near Strawberry Point.

She was married March 19, 1898 to Mr. Alexander Blake and having no children of her own she took Anita Hankins to raise, when only a small child. She was bereft of her husband who passed away January 23, 1914.

She leaves to mourn her going one sister, Mrs. Mary C. Guin of Arlington, two brothers, George B. Speed of Arlington and W. A. Speed of Bloomington, Indiana, besides nephews and nieces and other relatives and many friends. Several years ago she was batized into the Church of Christ and has continued in that faith.

Funeral services in charge of her pastor, the Rev. Edwin Hignett were held at the Gleim Funeral Home, Wednesday afternoon.

STRAWBERRY POINT: The remains of Mrs. Jennie Blake, formerly of this place, but now of Arlington, was laid to rest in the local cemetery. Funeral services were held at the Gleim funeral home in Arlington Wednesday, conducted by Rev. Edwin Hignett, pastor of the Christian church.

Almira Virginia Speed, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Speed, was born May 06, 1855, in New York State. She came here with her parents when a young girl. "Jen," as she was better known, was united in marriage to Alex Blake, who preceded her in death several years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Blake ran the hotel, known as the Blake house, for a number of years. For the last two years Mrs. Blake has made her home at Arlington. Surviving is an adopted daughter, Mrs. Hankens, of Oelwein, two brothers and one sister, William Speed of Bloomington, Ind., George Speed and Mrs. Guinn, both of Arlington.
