FUNERAL SERVICES FOR IRVING SCOTT WERE HELD SUNDAY

Irving W. Scott was born January 21, 1878 near Elkport, Iowa, son of John and Ann Scott. He received his schooling in the rural schools of Clayton county. His boyhood was spent around Elkport and Wood Center, where his father was a veterinarian.

He was married at Edgewood, on June 5, 1907 to Charlotte Chettinger. Five children were born to the union. After their marriage they lived in California where their oldest son, John was born. Later the family returned to Iowa and farmed. Still later Mr. Scott resumed hios former occupation of carpentry which he followed until his death.

He was a quiet, unassuming man, a good husband and father and was well liked by all who knew him.

Although not a church member, he was friendly toward the Gospel and attended most of the meetings held in Edgewood this year.

He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Earl Gleason of Edgewood and four sons, John of Chicago, Ill., Beryl of Garrison, Texas, Fay, who is in the army, and Clair of Edgewood. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Erie K. Rulon of Manchester.

He was preceded in death by one brother, James of Chicago, Ill., and three sisters, Mrs. Anna Rulon of Wood Center and two who died in childhood.

Mr. Scott passed away quietly at his home October 23, 1941 at the age of 63 years, 9 months and 2 days.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at three o'clock at the Platt Funeral Home in charge of Mr. Brandt of Garnavillo. Casket attendants were J. C. Amling, D.S. Glazier, C. E. Fairweather, F. E. Hill, Geo. F. Downey and E. J. Romig. burial was made in the Manchester Cemetery.
