EVERETT SMITH WAS THE SON OF UNITED BRETHEN MINISTER

Death came December 3, 1941, to Everett E. Smith, son of J. W. X. and Alvina Smith, at the age of 65. Mr. Smith was taken ill Thanksgiving Day with pneumonia and passed away six days later. He had not been in robust health for some years.

Mr. Smith was born in the United Brethren parsonage at Sherill Mound, Iowa, July 14, 1876, his father being a minister in that church. As a boy he attended school and made the best of his school hours.
On February 22, 1898 Mr. Smith was united in marriage to Nora Sherman and they made their home on the old Smith homestead north of Edgewood for 22 years. They then purchased a farm a half mile east of town where they lived together the past 22 years.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, one brother, J. S. Smith of Burlington, Iowa, two sisters, Mrs. Clara Borton and Mrs. Vie Richards of Edgewood. His parents, two brothers and three sisters preceded him in death. He also leaves many other relatives and a host of friends whose hearts are sad at his passing.

Mr. Smith took a great interest in public affairs and in the social life of the community. He was an ardent booster for the Farmers' Institute and worked untiringly to make it a success.

Burial was made in Strawberry Point Cemetery. The casket bearers were E. J. Schacherer, Bert Burgin, Ray Hansel, Frank Peet, Jack Leonard and Marcel Perrinjaquet.
