Funeral of Ashley Smith Held at Marion Friday
Mrs. Harley Reynolds has the sympathy of her friends here since the death of her father and H. J. Smith in the loss of his brother, Ashley L. Smith, whose death occured at his home in Marion, last Friday, October 2nd. Funeral services were conducted in the Yocom Chapel, Marion, Monday afternoon at 2 p.m., in charge of the Rev. Arthur W. Henke, pastor of the Methodist Church. Burial was in the family lot in Oak Shade cemetery.Mr. Smith was born July 24, 1867 at Edgewood, the son of Daniel and Louise Gager Smith. He made his home in Marion for 35 years and was a plastering contractor. His wife, Margaret O'Herron Smith died Feb. 8, 1936.
Surviving to mourn his loss are two daughters, Mrs. Reynolds of Edgewood and Mrs. John Dunaway, address unknown; a sister, Mrs. Julia Sherwood of Mobridge, S.Dak., and two brothers, H. J. Smith of Edgewood and Dan Smith of Tulsa, Okla. Four grandchildren also survive.
Attending the services from Edgewood and vicinity were Mr. and Mrs. Reynolds, Mr. and Mrs. George Perrinjaquet, Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Worthy Smith, Mrs. Mamie Fry, Mrs. Ella Alcorn, Mr. M. L. Stone.
