DELMAR J. ROUNDS 1884-1954

Funeral services were held January 21 at Iroquois, South Dakota for Delmer J. Rounds, former resident of this community, who passed away at his home in Iroquois.

Delmar J. Rounds was born on July 4, 1884 in Clayton county, Postville, Iowa. On June 30, 1909 he was united in marriage to Nellie McBride in Clermont, Iowa.

He was a carpenter by trade until he moved to Iroquois in 1917 {?} [paper is tore here but I can make out 191plainly but not the last number] to start farming. In 1926 he left the farm, moving to Iroquois where he again took up the carpenter trade. Ill health forced him to retire in 1939.

Survivors, besides his widow, are one son, Joseph M. of Dayton, Ohio; two daughters, Mrs. Earl Wiles of Iroquois and Mrs. Sylvan Pekas of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; two brothers, Marion of Iroquois and Reuben of Bertha, Minnesota; and one sister, Mrs. William Martin of Ottumwa. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren and one great granddaughter.

One daughter, Mary, preceded him in death in 1950.

Postville Herald newspaper clipping, hand dated 1954, from my mother's obituary collection.
