MRS. FRANK DARVIN (Bertha L. Hein) ROUNDS 1886-1966

Bertha L. Hein was born the daughter of Carl and Caroline Meyer Hein on June 29, 1886, in Clayton county, Iowa. She was baptized in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Postville, July 25, 1886, and was confirmed there April 8, 1900. She departed this life December 31, 1966, at the age of 80 years, six months and two days.

Mrs. Rounds spent the earlier years of her life on a farm and attended the rural school in Grand Meadow township. She and her mother then moved to Postville and she learned the millinery and dress making trade. Later she operated an alteration shop in Postville.

On December 31, 1908, she was united in marriage to Frank D. Rounds of Mason City. They lived in Mason City for two years before moving back to Postville. To this union were born two sons, F. D. "Bob" of Monona and Clifford of Northfield, Ohio.

She was active in church work, teaching Sunday School, a member of the choir, and a charter member of the Mission Society. She was a member of Postville Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, and also a member of the Past Matron Club.

After the passing of her husband in 1949, she moved from Fullerton, California back to Postville, then worked for a while in a home for the aged in Ohio before moving back to Postville. In May, 1966, she moved to Monona to live with her son and resided there until her death.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four brothers, Rudolph, William, George, and Carl.

Surviving are her sons, Bob and Clifford; four grandsons, Gary, Roger, Jay and Alan, three great-grandsons, Tim, Todd and Terry; two sisters, Amelia Mead of San Diego, California and Mrs. Bernard (Edna) Waters of Postville.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 3, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville, with Rev. Lenwood L. Monte, officiating. Burial was in Postville cemetery.
