Services for E. Anderson

Enoch S. Anderson, 90, of 2505 3rd Ave. N.W., Waverly, Iowa, died Wednesday afternoon, January 8, 1986, at the Waverly Municipal Hospital where he had been a patient for two hours.

He was born on September 18, 1895 in the home of his parents, John and Louise Larson Anderson of rural McGregor, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at Swede Ridge Lutheran Church, rural McGregor. He received his education at the Giard Twp. School and the Algona Telegraphers School. Enoch served in France during World War I, and then he worked as a telegrapher for the Milwaukee Railroad.

On January 24, 1922, he was united in marriage to Leona Baade in Monona, Iowa by Rev. Albert Daugs. The couple began their married life as farmers making their first home on the farm where he was born and which they still own. Enoch became a resident of the Shell Rock Care Ceenter in Shell Rock, Iowa, on September 1, 1978.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Monona, and was an associate member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly. He was a charter member of the American Legion Post #267, McGregor, and was a charter member of Clayton County Barracks Veterans of World War I.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Frank and Ludwig, and two sisters, Jennie Anderson and Selma Demo. He is survived by his wife, Leona, and his son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Nancy Anderson, all of Waverly.

Funeral services were held Friday, January 10, 10:00 a.m. at the Kaiser-Corson Chapel in Waverly with Rev. Dennis H. Dickman officiating. Committal services were at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Monona City Cemetery Mausoleum with Rev. Harold Ward officiating. Burial will be in the spring.
