Mrs. Henry Busacker Passes On, Saturday
After a lingering illness of about five month, Mrs. Henry Busacker passed away at her home in Postville on Saturday, September 5th, aged 71 years, 10 months, and 23 days.
Her maiden name was Mary Jastram, and she was born in Goehren, Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany, October 12, 1859, and was baptized in the Lutheran church of her native town. When she was seven years old her parents emigrated to America and settled near Farmersburg, where she grew to womanhood and at the proper age was confirmed in the Lutheran church at Garnavillo.
October 8, 1880, she was united in marriage to Henry Busacker at Farmersburg, and this union continued happily over a period of more than half a century. To this union were born four children, one of whom died in infancy. The three surviving children are Mrs. Claudia Reinhard, William Busacker and Hulda Nuehring, a11 of Grand Meadow Township. The first three years of their wedded life was spent in Farmersburg township, after which they removed to a farm in Grand Meadow township, where they resided nearly 23 years, and in 1905 they, retired from the farm and moved into Postville, which has been their home continuously since.
Mrs. Busacker was a faithful wife, loving mother, a kind and sympathetic neighbor and friend, whose passing will bring a pang of sorrow to all who knew this estimable lady.
She is survived by her husband, three children, ten grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church of Postville and up to the time of her last illness was a regular attendant of divine services.
The funera1 was he1d from the Lutheran Church on Monday afternoon at two-thirty o'clock, the Rev. R.B. Garten officiating. Interment in the Postville cemetery.
