1903-1941
Death Calls Charles M. Sprague; Funeral Held Last Friday Afternoon

Charles M. Sprague, son of Mr. and Mrs. Burr Sprague, was born in Delaware County, iowa on June 3, 1903 and died at the State Hospital at Independence on May 21, 1941 at the age of 37 yeats, 11 months and 18 days. His death was sudden and unexpected. His health had not been of the best for several years and all his friends as well as the members of his family had hoped that the time might soon come when he would regain his health and again pursue the normal trend of his life, but He who knoweth best had decreed otherwise.

Charles grew to manhood in the Wood community. there he attended the public school, also to some ?tent he was in attendance at the church services, Sunday school and ?worth League. He was of a kind-friendly dispostion. He helped with the farm work at home and later as a farm hand, he proved himself reliable and trustworthy, always carrying his ?ll share of the load and not afraid to work. He made friends readily and was liked by all with whom he was associated.

Surviving to mourn his death are his stepfather and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Waldo; two brothers, Calude Sprague of Moorehead, Minn. and Eldred Sprague of Hopkinton; three sisters, Mrs. Irma Malone of Manchester, Mrs. Bernice Fry of Wood and Mrs. Mable Wittman of Dubuque, and many other relatives and friends. His father preceded him in death several years ago.

Funeral services were held in the Methodist church Friday afternoon in charge of Rev. A. H. Meyer, assited by Rev. W. L. Feller. Burial was made in the Edgewood cemetery.
