I am not related and have no further information, just sharing articles found in an old scrapbook that belonged to Mrs. Clara (Jones) McCartney.

1861-1943
MRS. JENNIE BREED ANSWERED SUMMONS SATURDAY AFTERNOON

Mrs. Jennie Breed, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James K. Alcorn, was born Sept. 13, 1861 near Titusville, Pa., and when two and a half years of age her parents moved to Edgewood, then known as Yankee Settlement.

On December 27, 1881 she was married to William Judson Breed, a young man who came west from Pennsylvania and who taught school
during the early years of their married life. To this union were born three children, Dr. Arthur L. Breed of Elmwood, Wis., Mrs. Leora Norris of Strawberry Point and Miss Lottie Breed of Edgewood. Besides the above children she is survived by two granddaughters, Mrs. Janet Breed Gavin of San Francisco, California, and Elizabeth Ann Breed, a student at Stephens College, Columbia, Mo., two great grandchildren, Sally Jane and Ann Louise Gavin, one brother, J. M. Alcorn, living south of town and several nieces and nephews.
After her husnband's death on Jan. 15, 1901, she took up dressmaking and continued at that occupation until about seven years ago when she suffered a severe heart attack and since has been a semi-invalid, being given the best of care by her daughter, Lottie.

On March 16 she suffered her last attack and gradually grew weaker, passing quietly away at her home Saturday afternoon, March 27, 1943 at the age of 81 years, six months and 14 days.

A good mother has passed on, leaving her children and a host of friends to mourn her loss.

Funeral services were held in the Platt Funeral Home Tuesday afternoon in charge of Rev. Vernon Benson, pastor of the Congregational Church, assisted by the Rev. Thomas H. Smith, pastor of the Methodist Church. Music for the service was the beautiful solo, "Crossing the Bar" sung by D. E Rhines with Miss Kirk accompanist. Burial was made in the Edgewood Cemetery with these friends of the family as casket attendants, Arthur Welterlen, Ed Beohm, Gilbert Cropp, Walter Funk, J. J. Tyrrell and F. H. Hatch.

Out of town relatives and friends attending Mrs. Breed's funeral were Dr. A. L.
