Obituary of Mrs. Maude Ashline
Maude J. Combs was born September 4, 1880 at Wood Center, Iowa, the daughter of Job A. and Alice C. Combs, pioneers of that community. She attended the Wood rural school and the Edgewood high school.
She united in marriage with Q. Ashline and to their union three children were born, all of whom survive. Mrs. Ashline was an experienced nurse and practiced her profession in this vicinty where her kind, gentle ways made her services very valuable. For a while her home was in Strawberry Point.
In 1924 she moved her family to Denver, Colo., and for the past 15 years she has made her home with her son, Maurice.
Since moving to Colorado, Mrs. Ashline had been affiliated with the Christian Science Church. Following her death on August 24, 1944, which was caused by a heart ailment, Christian Science services were held in the Olinger Mortuary on Saturday afternoon, August 26. Carlton H. Moon, C. S. P., officiated. Mrs. Ashline's favorite hymns, "Mother's Evening Prayer" and "Shepherd Show Me How to Go" were sung by Esther Linden, soloist. Burial was made in the Memorial Park, Crown Hill Cemtery.
Surviving to mourn her death are the three children, Mrs. Gladyce Keigley, Mrs. Eveah Dearmins, two granddaughters, Delores Parsons, and Bette Jo Dearmin; three sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Shaffer, Mrs. Mildred Wisherd and Mrs. Rose Wormwood, all in Colorado, and several nieces and nephews.
There are many relatives in Edgewood and the Wood community who were saddened by the news of the death of Mrs. Ashline.
