Funeral Services Held For Burdette Menge, Who Drowned Sunday

Burdette Menge, 15, the son of Mrs. Margaret Menge, who drowned Sunday evening near Elk Creek, north of Greeley. He with three other companions were swimming. Burdette, according to the other boys' story, was unable to save himself after he had pulled one of the boys to safety. His body was recovered about six o'clock and was taken to the Rhines Mortuary in Edgewood.

Burdette Eugene was born Feb. 16, 1929 at Edgewood, Iowa. At the age of six years he with his parents moved to Greeley where the home has been since. He attended school in Greeley where he will be greatly missed by his companions.

He leaves to mourn his death, his mother, three sisters, Norma, Mary Jane and Annabelle, and four brothers, Raymond, Marvin, George and Louis. His father preceded him in death on January 25, 1940.

Funeral services were held in the Methodist Church in Greeley Wednesday afternoon in charge of Rev. Snyder. Casket attendants were Jerry Larson, Keith Culbertson, John Harris, Burton Kruger, Cecil Brady and Ward Kuhlman. Burial was made in the Edgewood Cemetery.
The sympathy of the Edgewood community is with the sorrowing family.
