WILBERT JOHN HERMAN LENTH, Jr.
Wilbert John Herman Lenth, son of Wilbert Frank and Viola Christine Gruel Lenth, was born November 18, 1918 in Hardin, Iowa. He died June 23, 1995 at St. Francis Hospital in LaCrosse, Wis. He was 76 years old.
He received his education in Evergreen Grove School and Monona High School, graduating in 1936.
On November 1942, Wilbert was united in marriage to Inez Kurth at Farmersburg Lutheran Church.
Wilbert farmed in Franklin Township for 47 years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of the Monona Fire Department Rural Board, Franklin Township Board of Trustees, United Coop Board of Directors, N. E. Iowa Telephone Co. Board. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and served on the church council.
Preceding him in death were his parents and one niece, Barb Herreid.
Surviving are his wife, Inez; two daughters and their husbands, Sheryl and Wayne Mielke of McGregor and Cindy and Dean Gordon of Luana; three sons, Bradley and his wife, Ethel of Farmersburg, Bruce and special friend, Laurie of Monona, and Loren and his wife, Melanie of Luana; grandchildren, Lance and Marcie Mielke, Kirsten and Emilie Lenth, Amanda and Marshall Lenth, Nathan Jones and Traci and Tara Cheeseman; great-grandchildren, Spencer and Jace Mielke. Also surviving are one sister, Gertrude Kurth of Monona; two brothers, Lorraine Lenth of Luana and Lee Allen Lenth of Littleport.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 26, 1995 at St. Paul Lutheran church in Monona. Pastor Terry Hudson officiated. Organist was Connie Halvorson. Pallbearers were Gene, Randy, Cary, Curtis, Keith and Donald Kurth, Terry and Tim Lenth, Thomas and William Herreid, Jr. Burial was in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.
