Clarence Boots Services Held
Services for Clarence Boots were held Saturday, February 16, 1980 at 1:00 p.m. at Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona, with Pastor R. D. Ehlers officiating. Pallbearers were Tommy Boots, Eugene Ferguson, Mick Ferguson, Steve Pottebaum, Kevin Vanderah, Lee Jellison, Jr., Jimmy Dreier, and Doug Dreier. Burial was in the Monona City Cemetery.
Clarence Frederick Boots, the son of Sam and Augusta Alitz Boots, was born October 17, 1903 at Elkader. He attended school in the area. On November 17, 1927, he was united in marriage to Grace Louise Lange. To this union nine children were born: Clarence, Betty, Tom, Darlene, Kenneth, Gwen, Richard, Carolea, and Sally. He worked for the Bell Telephone Company for 41 years, 3 months, and 1 day, working in the Elkader, Dubuque, and McGregor areas.
He died Wednesday, February 13, 1980 at Veteran's Memorial Hospital, Waukon, Iowa, having reached the age of 76 years, 3 months, and 26 days. Preceeding him in death were his parents; his wife, who died February 21, 1974; a step-grandson, Jerry Kinney; two brothers, Ira and Sam; four sisters, Marie, Effie, Bess, and Blanche.
Surviving him are his four sons, Clarence, Jr. of Zwingle; Tom L., Dubuque; Kenneth F., Harpers Ferry; Richard, Waukon; five daughters: Mrs. Matt (Betty) Freilinger, Monona; Mrs. Ed (Darlene) Pottebaum, Dubuque; Mrs. Richard (Gwen) Vanderah, Cuba City, Wisconsin; Mrs. Lee (Carolea) Jellison, Dyersville; and Mrs. Eugene (Sally) Dreier, Monona; 40 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ray of Elkader; and a sister, Mrs. Dave (Jessie) Hoover of Waukon.
