MRS. MILTON W. (Ruth Vivian Hedeman) Uecker

Funeral services for Ruth Vivian Uecker, 84, were held Friday, Sept. 4, 1992, at Peace United Church of Christ, Elkader, Iowa, with burial at East Side Cemetery. Rev. Lance A. Bentley officiated. Pallbearers were Todd Parola, Bill Smith, Bob Carolan, Harlan Hedeman, Embert Hedemand and Steve Ortman.

Ruth Vivian Uecker, daughter of Elmer and Mathilda (Ehrhardt) Hedeman, was born February 14, 1908, near Guttenberg. She was raised and educated in the area graduating from Guttenberg High School. She taught country school for a few years prior to her marriage. January 29, 1931, she was united in marriage to Milton W. Uecker at Waukon. Three children were born to this union. After Milton's death on April 2, 1983, Ruth continued to live in Elkader. In February of this year she entered the Elkader Care Center where she died Tuesday, Sept. 1, 1992. She was a longtime member of Peace United Church of Christ and Women's Fellowship.

She is survived by her children: Gordon of Mt. Clemens, Mich., Janet Smith of Elkader and Joyce (Mrs. Fred) Picket of Grayslake, Ill., ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, five brothers, Harlan and Reynold Hedeman of Elkader, Elmer of McGregor, Embert of Guttenberg, and Leighton of Waterloo; two sisters, Helen (Mrs. Donald) Roloff of Waterloo, and Eunice (Mrs. Elmer) Frommelt of Ossian.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother Gerald Hedeman and her parents.
