MRS. CHARLES (Bertha Sophie Krambeer) MEYER ULISH

Mrs. Chas. Ulish Last Rites Held

Funeral services for Mrs. Charles Ulish, 83, were held Wednesday afternoon Jan. 13, at 1:30 o'clock at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran church in Monona, with Rev. R. E. Lnagholz officiating. The body lay in state at the church from 12 o'clock noon until the time of the services.

Burial was in the Postville cemetery.

Mrs. Ulish died Sunday morning, Jan. 10, at the Postville hospital where she had been a patient since suffering a fractured hip in a fall Dec. 12, 1964.

She was born the daughter of John and Ida, nee Harnack, Krambeer, Dec. 6, 1881, in Read Township, Clayton county. She was baptized Bertha Sophie Wilhelmine by Rev. F. W. Seifert, pastor of the Clayton Center Lutheran church, Dec. 25, 1881.

She attended the rural schools at Hardin and West Grove. She was confirmed March 29, 1896, at St. John Lutheran Church in Luana.

She was united in marriage with Henry Meyer, March 21, 1901, and the couple engaged in farming west of Postville.

Six children were born of this marriage: Mrs. R. R. (Amy) Harris of New Delhi, India; Mrs. Robert (Leona) Bachtell of Washington, D. C.; Mrs. John (Hilda) Martins of Postville, and Mrs. Harvey (Ruth) Lenth of Luana; and Ethel and Larence who preceded their mother in death.

Mr. Meyer died in 1938.

On Sept. 30, 1946 she married Charles Ulish. They resided in Monona until the death of Mr. Ulish in 1963, after which she made her home with Mrs. John Martins and Mrs. Harvey Lenth.

Surviving besides her four daughters are three sisters, Mrs. R. C. (Mathilda) Bugenhagen, Mrs. Vern (Emma) Zieman, and Hilma Krambeer, of Monona; one brother John Krambeer of Monona; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Frances Fahey of Mt. Desert, Maine; 14 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.

Music at the services was provided by the congregation singing, with Mrs. George Heins as organist.

Pallbearers were eight grandsons: John M., Bernald, Virgil, Jerald, Stanley and J. Russell Martins, Richard and Jerome Lenth.
