Funeral services for Henry Comnick were held Saturday, October 24, 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Monona. Rev. Harold O. Ward officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona was in charge of services.
He was born July 1, 1900 to parents David and Karoline Jost Comnick. He was baptized July 2, 1900 and confirmed April 10, 1915 in the Lutheran faith.
Henry grew up and was educated in Germany. He came to the United States in September of 1923, settling in Westbrook, Minnesota. On July 18, 1929 Henry became a United States citizen at Slayton, Minnesota.
On Feb. 24, 1942 Henry was married to Alice Meier at Salem Evangelical Church, Giard Twp., Clayton County, Iowa. The couple farmed near Farmersburg for a couple of years. They moved to a farm north of Monona, where they lived from 1944-1950. In 1950 they purchased a farm near Giard and remained there until 1976.
Henry was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He died Thursday, Oct. 22, 1987 at Community Memorial Hospital in Postville.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Surviving is his wife, Alice and many relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Clifford Gunderson, Roger Meyer, Darrell Greenwald, Rowland Jones, harry Larson, Leland Parizek and Thomas Huinker. Honorary pallbearers, Donald Tayel, Leonard Seitz, Clarence Thiesen, Elvie Drahn.
