Miss Tillie Everson died at the hospital at Decorah, on Friday, June 27, aged forty-seven years, and seven months. Ther serious illness and unexpected death of Miss Everson was a shock to her many friends and the community as only a few realized her serious condition. It was only three weeks before her death that she had been busy caring for her own household duties here in Clermont, and though far from well, she kept this fact to herself up to the time when the growing weakness made help necessary. Then she was at once taken to the home of her sister, Mrs. A.O. Anderson, and after a week there was taken to the hospital for treatment. Everything that could be done for her was done, but it soon became evident that the only hope there was in possibly saving her life was in a surgical operation, and her doctor in consultation with doctors at West Union and Decorah, was all agreed in that it was the only hope left. This operation she underwent on Thursday, June 26, but weakened as she was, she could not rally after the operation and quietly passed away the day following.

Miss Everson was the second child of Mr. and Mrs. Iver Iverson and was born on a farm east of Clermont November 27, 1882. Her entire life had been one of faithful and loyal service to her family. As the oldest of the daughters, she early became the home caretaker, her mother having died in 1902. She faithfully cared for her father up to the time of his death eleven years ago, then taking care of the household duties for her brother Nels, first on the farm, then later in Clermont, where they moved nine years ago, and for the past five years she has lived in her own home in Clermont.

There leaves to mourn her death, two sisters, Emma, Mrs. A.O. Anderson; and Nora, Mrs. Martin Anderson, both of Clermont, and two brothers, Nels Everson of Osceola, Iowa and Andrew Anderson of West Union, besides a large number of other relatives and friends who include all who knew her. The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from her home and the West Clermont Lutheran church, with interment beside her parents in the cemetery at the East church, the pastor, Rev. G. Gunsten, officiating.

The pallbearers were the six nephews, Milo, Ivan, Allen, Burnell, Claire and Millard Anderson, and the flower girls were the four nieces, Anna Mae, [paper has a fold obscuring one full line of type] -ian Everson. In the large gathering that filled the church with sympathetic friends there were many from out of town, namely Decorah, Ossian, West Union and Postville. Of the reatives in attendance from away there were her brother, Nels Everson and family, of Osceola, and Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Skou of Wesley, Iowa.
