Miss Sophie Groth, daughter of Johannes and Guri Groth, was born in Clayton county, March 10, 1879, and passed away at the Good Samaritan Home in West Union, Nov. 24, at the age of seventy-six years.She was baptized and confirmed in the East Clermont Lutheran Church and took an active interest in the congregation.
She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and three sisters. She is survived by one brother, Martin Groth, of Elgin, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted at the East Clermont Church on Saturday, Nov. 26, with the Rev. S.B. Knudsen officiating. Arlene Knudsen was the soloist; accompanied by Mrs. S.B. Knudsen, organist.
Burial was made in the adjoining cemetery. Casket bearers were Olaf Berg, Ole Reierson, Ole Blockhus, Ludwig Anderson, Joe Wander and Elmer Larson.
