Rites Held Monday For Mrs. Zurcher
Funeral services were held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the home and at 2:00 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Farmersburg for Mrs. Glen Zurcher who passed away last Friday. Burial was on the family lot at Wagner cemetery.
Mrs. Zurcher, nee Wilma Klinkenberg, was born July 29, 1909 in Farmersburg township, Clayton county, the daughter of Wilhelm Klinkenberg and Marie Klinkenberg. She was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
She attended high school at Elkader and taught in the public schools of the county for several years. She was united in marriage to Glen Zurcher on October 29, 1929. Three children blessed the home, two of which died in early infancy. She had lived in the present farm for the past 13 years.
Surviving are her husband Glen, her daughter Verda Mae, her son-in-law, Gerald Palas of Luana; two sisters: Mrs. Alma Voelker and Mrs. George Rehfeldt of Humboldt, South Dakota; three brothers, Marvin of Farmersburg, Elmer of Luana and Carl of St. Olaf.
Postville Herald newspaper clipping, hand dated July 6, 195?, from my mother's obituary collection. The corner is tore away so that is all I can read of her hand written date.
