Nels Ostegard, son of Eric and Bertha Ostegard, was born on a farm east of Elgin, Dec. 8, 1881 and died July 6, 1941, at the home of his sister, Mrs. Asbjorn Olson, of near McGregor, on Sunday morning, July 6. He had been sick close to a year and was cared for at the home of Mrs. J.D. Moody in Elgin during the winter months. About five weeks ago he went to the home of his sister, Mrs. Olson. He never married and had lived in this vicinity all his life.
Funeral services were held at the Muehlethaler funeral home here on Tuesday afternoon and also at the East Clermont Lutheran church at 2 o'clock, Rev. E.E. Ramsey conducted the services. Burial was made in the Houg cemetery east of Elgin where his parents also are buried. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Asbjorn Olson, of McGregor, and Mrs. Chris Holm, of Minnesota; also a neice, Mrs. Clarence Hagerlie, of Ossian, and a nephew, Oluf Olson, of St. Olaf. A sister preceded him in death.
