Shirley Ann Johanningmeier, the daughter of Harvey and Carlotta (Moen) Standorf, was born March 26, 1933, in Waukon. She was baptized at the Methodist Church in 1933, and confirmed December 11, 1949, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona.
She received her education at the Giard No. 1 school. On November 16, 1949, she was united in marriage to Don Louis Johanningmeier at St. Paul Lutheran, Monona. To this union two children were born. She and Don farmed in the rural McGregor area.
She died Wednesday, May 9, 1984, the result of a car-train accident in Prairie du Chien. She reached the age of 51 years, one month and 13 days.
Preceding in death were her parents. Surviving is her husband, Don, a son, Larry, of McGregor, a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Lynn) Silva of the Virgin Islands, two grandchildren, three brothers, Harlan Standorf of Eldora, Ronald Standorf of Dubuque, Allan Standorf of Steamboat Rock, and, a sister, Sandra Loper, of McGregor, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 14, 1984, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona, at 1 p.m., with Pastor Harold 0. Ward officiating. Pallbearers were Harry Larson, Elmer Nieland, Dale Wiemerslage, John Johanningmeier, Greg Standorf, and Rick Johanningmeier. Burial was in the Lutheran Cemetery. Schultz's Funeral Home was in charge of services.
