Mrs. Walter (Doris Bonzer) Koehn, daughter of John and Augusta Bonzer, was born in Monona, Iowa, on Oct. 15, 1911. She passed away at her home very suddenly on Fri. evening, Dec. 24, 1976.
Doris moved with her family to rural Monona, where she received some of her education. After the death of her father, they moved back to Monona where she finished two years of high school. and then quit because she was needed to help at home.
She was united in marriage on April 14, 1941 to Walter Koehh of Clayton. There was one daughter, Mary Louise, born to this union in 1946, who died in infancy. Doris and Walter farmed in this area for about twenty-seven years, and then moved to Monona on March 28, 1971.
She was a member of the Garden City United Methodist Church in Monona and also a member of the United Methodist Women's group. She was a faithful worker, always helping when needed. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, one brother, and one sister.
She leaves to remember her, her husband, Walter, a cousin, Genevieve Holly, who lived with them; three sisters, Mrs. Alfred (Betty) Sieger of Dubuque, Mrs. Elmer (Helen) Knockel, and Mrs. Emmet (Ruth) Gunderson of Monona; two step-sisters, Mrs. Ruth Tayek and Mrs. Alma Lestina of Monona one aunt, Mrs. Esther Suhrada of Culver City, Calif.; nieces and nephews, and many friends and neighbors.
Funeral services were conducted at the Garden City United Methodist Church on Mon. Dec. 27, 1976 at 2:p.m. Rev. Raymond Pacholke officiated. Music was provided by the organist, Mrs. Ivon Schultz and a duet by Sherry and Terri Knockel.
Pallbearers were were Wayne Walters, Reuben Rayment, Donald Lahey, Forrest Walters, George Topel, Eugene Milewsky. Burial was in the Monona City Cemetery.
