Wayne Eldo Wilkins, 62, of Grand Junction, Colorado, died at 2:45 p.m. Thursday, July 12, at the University of Utah Medical Center, Salt Lake City, Utah. He had been ill for three months.
Mr. Wilkins, a laborer, was a resident of Grand Junction for the past 24 years. He was born June 30, 1917, at Monona, where he spent his childhood. He and Delores Schlitter were married May 3, 1939, at Monona. Mrs. Wilkins survives. She is employed as a bookkeeper for Flannery Electric Service.
Mr. Wilkins had made his home in Arizona, California, and Washington, before moving to Grand Junction. During the past 25 years, he harvested wheat during the summer months for the Damons Star D. Ranch at Lind, Washington. Mr. Wilkins enjoyed rock hunting, metal detecting, and camping.
Survivors include his wife, Delores, of Grand Junction; two sons, Ronald Wilkins of Hood River, Oregon; Thomas Wilkins of Olathe; three sisters; four brothers; and three grandchildren.
Services for Mr. Wilkins were held Monday at 10:00 a.m. in the Callahan-Edfast Chapel with the Rev. Sam Day officiating. Cremation followed the services. If desired, memorial donations may be made in his name to the charity of your choice.
