Miss Rachel Larrabee, 92, of Groton, Conn., an early resident of McGregor, died quietly in her sleep at her home last week. She had been active during the day.
Miss Larrabee, a daughter of Frank and Sarah Marie Copp Larrrabee, was born June 20, 1863, at Clayton, Iowa, where her father operated a flour mill. While she was still a child her family moved to McGregor where Mr.Larrabee was a banker. Her uncle, William Larrabee, was a former governor of Iowa.
She attended Andover Academy at Andover, Mass., and Vassar College and traveled extensively in this country and Europe.
In 1914 she moved with her parents and sister to Groton where she has since lived. She spent many winters at Winter Park, Florida, where her sister, Betsy B. Larrabee, died about three years ago.
She was a member of the Congregational church, the Anna Warner Bailey chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Society of Mayflower Descendants.
Funeral services were conducted at her home last Wednesday. Interment was in Starr Cemetery.From Unnamed Newspaper Dated Nov. 3, 1955
