Peter Erickson, for fifty-five years a resident of Grand Meadow township, died at his country home, Sunday, Oct. 26th, at the age of eighty-four years, seven months and fifteen days.

Deceased was born in Numedahl, Norway, March 11, 1835, and when eighteen years of age emigrated to this country, stopping at Rock Prairie, Wis., a short time before coming to Iowa, which has been his home ever since.

On June 20, 1859, he was married to Barbara Olson, thus making their wedded life a eriod of sixty years or more. This union was blessed by six sons and one daughter, Erick, Lewis, Henry, Sam, Albert, Ben and Emma. Erick and Albert grew to manhood, but preceded their fahter in death a number of years ago.

Thus ends the career of a man of sterling character, who was loved by all who knew him. Short services were held at the home, followed by services at the Gunder church, with Rev. Glesne of Decorah and Rev. Arveson of St. Olaf officiating. The remains were laid to rest in the cemetery near the church.
