Letha Lucy Kautman, 88, Prairie du Chien, WI, died Saturday, November 2, 1991, at the Prairie Health Care Center.

Letha was born March 23, 1903, at Pleasant Ridge, Iowa, to John M. and Amanda E. Denning Knapp. She grew up and attended school in the area. She married Thorworld Thompson in 1920 in Clayton County, Iowa. They moved to Glen Ellyn, IL, where they lived for a few years before moving back to Marquette and later Prairie du Chien. She married Arthur Kautman July 3, 1947, at Boscobel, WI. He died January 2, 1991.

Letha operated a poodle grooming service for many years.

Survivors include one son, Harold Thompson, Tucson, AZ; one daughter, Mrs. Arlene Heinz Tornoff, Paradise Valley, AZ; one sister, Elsie Johnson, Prairie du Chien; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Services were held Thursday, 2 p.m. Nov. 7 at Lake-Thronburg Funeral Home, Prairie du Chien. Burial at the Evergreen Cemetery. Lake-Thronburg Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
