Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Funeral services for Erma Henning, age 87, of Farmersburg, Iowa, were held Wednesday, March 4 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Farmersburg, Iowa. Pastor Bruce Hanson officiated. Pallbearers were Roger Wacker, Mark Toberman, Kurt Toberman, Kent Toberman, Brian Henning, Daryl Henkes, Dustin Henkes, Harold Henning, and Steven Henning. Burial was in theFarmersburg-Wagner Cemetery. The Schultz Funeral Home of Monona was in charge of services.
Erma Adele, daughter of William and Minnie (Glawe) Radloff, was born October 13, 1910 near Clayton County, Iowa. She was baptized November 13, 1910 and confirmed June 7, 1924 in Farmersburg, Iowa. She received her education in the Farmersburg School. Erma was united in marriage to Arno Henning on May 20, 1931 at the home of her parents. They were the parents of five children. They farmed on Arno's parents home place until retiring in 1974 when they moved to Farmersburg, Iowa. Erma and Arno celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1981. Erma enjoyed sewing, quilting, and flowers.
Erma Adele Henning died Saturday, February 28, 1998 at the Prairie Memorial Hospital in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Arno, who died January 21, 1988, three brothers, Verdeen Radloff, Lawrence Radloff, and Carl Radloff, an infant grandson, a grandson and his family, Dwain, Jody, Austin, and Aren Henkes who died July 28, 1995, an infant great-granddaughter, Faith Henkes who died November 22, 1995.
Erma is survived by her 3 daughters, Evelyn (Robert) Wacker of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, Phyllis (Donald) Toberman of Janesville, Wisconsin, and Arleta (L'Dean) Henkes of Monona, Iowa; 2 sons, Vernon (Sharon) Henning, and Dennis (Diana) Henning, all of Farmersburg, Iowa; 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Esther Young of McGregor, Iowa; 3 sisters-in-law, Ina Radloff of Anoka, Minnesota, Edna Henning of Farmersburg, Iowa, and Selma Zurcher of Strawberry Point, Iowa.
