Funeral services for Gladys Mae Krapfl, age 87, of Edgewood, Iowa will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2002 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Edgewood, Iowa. Rev. Rustin Krapfl and Rev. Brian Sherman will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Greeley, Iowa. Honorary bearers are LeRoy Krapfl, Rev. Rustin Krapfl, Joe Krapfl, Kevin Krapfl, Richard Taylor, Mike Taylor, Eddie Anderson. Casket bearers are Dean Burgin, Tim Burgin, Chris Krapfl, Navada Krapfl, Mark Holthaus, and Derek Moser. Leonard Funeral Home in Edgewood is in charge of the arrangements.

Gladys Mae, daughter of DeWitt and Pearl (Clute) Wonleighton, was born May 5, 1915 on a farm near Manchester, Iowa. They moved to Thorpe, Iowa. Gladys went to country school and graduated from the Edgewood school in 1933. She was united in marriage to Clarence Krapfl on February 1, 1934. They became the parents of 11 children. They worked and lived on farms in the Littleport and Elkader, Iowa area until Clarence passed away in October of 1974. Gladys purchased her parent's home in Edgewood in 1977. She enjoyed watching sports on television, working on crossword puzzles, needlepoint and all of her family.

Gladys Mae Krapfl died Saturday night, July 6, 2002 at the Edgewood Convalescent Home following a long illness. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, a son Kevin Krapfl in 1957, a daughter, Wendy in 2001, a brother Glenn (Zala) Wonleighton in 1986, and a great-grandson, Nathan Crandall in 2001.

Gladys is survived by her children, Richard Krapfl of Elkader, Iowa, Donald (Wanda) Krapfl, and Judy (Tom) Anderson, all of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Carol (Larry) Moser of Garnavillo, Iowa, Sharon Krapfl of Guttenberg, Iowa, Tom (Nancy) Krapfl of Center Point, Iowa, DeWitt (Candace) Krapfl of Winthrop, Iowa, Lynda (Tom) Burgin and Merry (Gene) Holthaus all of Edgewood, Iowa; 24 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
