Eileen Olive Cords

Funeral services for Eileen Olive Cords were held at the Norway Lutheran Church, St. Olaf, Monday, April 29, 1974. The Rev. Robt. Henriksen officiated. Burial was in the East Side Cemetery at Elkader.

Mrs. Cords passed away Friday, April 26, at Memorial Hospital, Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, at the age of 52. She had suffered from cancer the last 5 months.

A daughter of Charlie and Anna Reichart, Eileen Olive Reichart was born at Littleport, Iowa, on May 23, 1921. She was baptized and confirmed at Hope Lutheran Church, Littleport. She attended school at Littleport and Elkader Junior College. After graduation she taught in rural schools in Clayton County.

On May 23, 1946, she was united in marriage to Arnold F. Cords. She and her husband farmed near Garnavillo, later making their home on a farm near St. Olaf. Two daughters were born to this union, Sandra Jean (Mrs. John Billings) of Lincoln, Nebraska and Connie Kay (Mrs. Johnny Potter) of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Mrs. Cords was a member of the Norway Lutheran Church, A.L.C.W., American Legion Auxiliary and Royal Neighbors.

During the past 15 years she had been employed at Fellers IGA in St. Olaf, and as Auto Clerk in the Clayton County Courthouse.

Surviving are her husband, two daughters and two grandsons. She also leaves two brothers, Milton Reichart, Earlville and Harley Reichart, Elkader.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Pallbearers were John Maehl, Virgil Lenth, Harlan Thurn, Brad Thurn, LeRoy Larson and Earl Berns.
