Funeral services for Mrs. Martin Lewis Franck, age 83, were held Sunday afternoon at 2:15 o'clock from the home to the Methodist Church at 2:30 o'clock with Rev. Roscoe C. Jerrell in charge and assisted by Rev. H.W. Raduege. Burial was in the Monona City Cemetery in Monona, Iowa. Pallbearers were Donald Franck, Milton Franck, Weber Ziegler, Jr., Donald Ziegler, Wayne Ziegler, and Harry Wilson.

Wilhelminia Marie, was the eldest daughter of Adolph and Caroline (Ziezo) Schlitter. She was born on November 9, 1862 in Pomerania, Germany. When seven years old she came with her parents to America living for about three months in Chicago, Illinois. They then came to Iowa settling in Linton Township, Allamakee County, Iowa. She completed her education in the rural schools and then worked at various places. She later went to Chicago, Illinois where she worked in a tailoring factory as a seamstress. It was in Chicago that she married Martin Lewis Franck on November 24, 1884. They came to Iowa in 1892 and lived in Allamakee County until 1920 when they moved to Monona, Iowa. Mr. Franck died seven years ago in 1939. Since that time her daughter-in-law, Alice and her two children, Milton and Evelyn, have made their home with her. When no longer able to attend the services of the Methodist Church, she enjoyed listening to the radio worship services. Her greatest enjoyment was to work among her flowers and to remember the birthdays, anniversaries, and other events of her neighbors, family, and friends.

Wilhelminia Marie Franck died Thursday morning, February 7, 1946 after being in poor health for the last four months. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Martin, a daughter, Wilhelminia "Minnie" in 1909, a son, Elmer Franck who died in 1928, a great-grandson, Ronald Lee Wilson, 2 sisters, Matilda Topel, and Martha Schlitter in died in infancy, and 4 brothers, William Schlitter, Herman Schlitter, and 2 brothers in infancy; and a son-in-law, Henry Bonzer.

Minnie is survived by her daughter Clara (Carl) Riehle of New Hampton, Iowa, a son George (Mabel) Franck of Strawberry Point, Iowa, foster daughter, Louise (Weber, Sr.) Ziegler of Luana, Iowa; 12 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren; a sister, Emma Fett and 4 brothers, Theodore Schlitter, Albert Schlitter, John Schlitter, and Emil Schlitter, all of Monona, Iowa.

NOTE OF THE TRANSCRIBER: Louise Ziegler was one of the Orphan Train children who came to Iowa from New York City, New York. She was not legally adopted by Martin and Wilhelminia Franck but she was considered a daughter to them. Louise had a sister who also came to Iowa and located in the area.
