Paul V. Clements officiating. Active pallbearers were Wesley Monserud, William Seglar, William Schlein, Glenn Palmer, Verni Kruse, and Don Lestina. Honorary pallbearers were Howard Bernhard, Lionel Scheffert, Leo Wiesler, Reuben Kruse, Ray Wiethorn, Milburn Moose, Don Schofield, and Burton Schlein. Burial was in Smithfield Cemetery near Volney, Iowa.
Floyd Linus Schlitter, son of William and Emma (Jarms) Schlitter, was born May 1, 1909 in Linton Township in Allamakee County, Iowa. His mother died when Floyd was two years old. His father then married Laura Ida Hensel when Floyd was almost three years old. Floyd was educated in the rural schools of Allamakee County. On September 25, 1929 he married Bernice Ann Rose in Waukon, Iowa with Rev. Van Nice officiating. They made their home on a farm near Monona, Iowa. Floyd was a member of the Monona Methodist Church.
Floyd Linus Schlitter died September 29, 1966 at Veteran's Memorial Hospital in Waukon, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Clarence who died in infancy in 1908, and his half brother, Dayton Schlitter who died in 1955.
Floyd is survived by his step-mother Laura
Schlitter and his wife Bernice, both of Monona, Iowa; a son Arden (Donna) Schlitter of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 2 grandchildren, Kim Allen Schlitter and Terry Lee Schlitter; 1 sister, Elsie Kutzbach, and 3 brothers, Frederick Schlitter, Herbert Schlitter, and Lester Schlitter; 4 half-sisters, Verna Chalders, Florence Plozel, Adeline McFarland, and Alice Jean Palas and 4 half brothers, Howard Schlitter, Harvey Schlitter, Alfred Schlitter, and Robert H. Schlitter in addition to many nieces and nephews.
