Services Held for Augusta Coobs

Funeral services were held Sunday, August 20, 1978, at the Schultz Funeral Home, Monona, for Augusta Meyer Coobs, who died on August 17 at Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wis., at the age of 76 years, 2 months and 10 days. Pastor R. D. Ehlers officiated. Pallbearers were Dick Schoenauer, Kenny Schoenauer, Russell Schoenauer, Don Walton, Mark Walton and Neal Daley. Burial was in the Guttenberg City Cemetery.

Augusta Meyer Coobs was born on June 7, 1902, the daughter of Ed and Wilhemena Wolter Schoenauer at Guttenberg, Iowa. She attended school at Guttenberg.

On November 22, 1961, she was united in marriage to Herman Coobs. For over 30 years she has owned and operated a Sea Shell Shop in McGregor. She traveled extensively, always adding to her collection and making beautiful things from the shells she found. She was a member of Veterans of World War I, Clayton County Barracks 1341 of Elkader.

Her parents and one brother, Raymond, preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, Herman, one sister, Mrs. Tom (Edna) Leary of Dubuque, one brother, Frank Schoenauer of Guttenberg, 10 nephews and nieces and four grandchildren.
