Memorial services for Timothy Richard "Tim" Langholz, age 43, of Decorah, Iowa, were held Thursday, November 6 at 11 a.m. at the Decorah Lutheran Church in Decorah, Iowa with Rev. Tom Pietz, Rev. Bryan Robertson, and Rev. Allen Vik officiating. Fjelstul Funeral Home of Decorah, Iowa was in charge of the arrangements. Special music was provided by Otter Dreaming, by family friends, and instrumentalists, John Goodin and Erik Sessions. * His place of burial was not given. *

Timothy Richard "Tim" Langholz, son of Rev. Robert E. and Hanna M.(Knappe) Langholz, was born July 21, 1965 in Postville, Iowa. He was baptized by his father at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Monona, Iowa and confirmed at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Waterloo, Iowa. Tim attended elementary school at M-F-L Consolidated School in Monona, Iowa and Edison Elementary in Waterloo, Iowa. He was a 1983 graduate of Central High School in Waterloo, Iowa and a 1987 graduate of Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. Tim developed a love of creating art through pottery and painting. He was the owner and operator of Langholz Pottery in Burr Oak, Iowa. His work was influenced by mentors Peter Deneen of St. Paul, Minnesota and Dean Schwarz of Decorah, Iowa. He has come to be known nationwide through contemporary craft shows, festivals, and fairs. He had collected a devoted fan base for his creative and artistic works. Tim's work is known for designs that are dynamic and clean, meticulous and geometric.

Tim was known for his love of the outdoors and spent many hours morel mushroom hunting in the woods, fishing, and gardening. He had a passion for building igloos, which attracted many visitors to their yard each winter. Tim was a regular at weekly ultimate frisbee games with friends and frequently initiated road trips to see his favorite musicians perform. Of all of his passions, his favorite was family. On December 2, 1997, Tim was united in marriage to Annette Laitinen in Decorah, Iowa. To this union was born one child, Ruby, who was the love of his life. He enjoyed spending time with his daughter, doing art projects, making Halloween costumes, May day baskets, and tending their flower garden together.

Timothy Richard Langholz died suddenly Sunday, November 2, 2008 in Decorah, Iowa. He is preceded in death by his father, Rev. Robert E. Langholz who died December 7, 1999.

Tim is survived by his wife, Annette of Decorah, Iowa; his daughter, Ruby Langholz at home; his mother, Hanna Langholz of Decorah, Iowa; 2 sisters, Rebecca Hamilton of Wabasha, Minnesota and Gail Hudson of Chicago, Illinois; 4 brothers, John (Flery) Langholz of St. Louis, Missouri, James (Jane) Langholz of Decorah, Iowa, Paul (Anita) Langholz of Clear Lake, Iowa, and Joel (Jocelyn) Langholz of Ashland, Wisconsin; 4 nieces, Laura Hudson, Angela Hudson, Janna Langholz, Maria Langholz, and 5 nephews, Nathan Langholz, Ben Langholz, Sam (Kristin) Langholz, Luke (Krystal) Langholz, and Noah Langholz; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Helen and Tom Laitinen of Decorah, Iowa; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bill Laitinen of Boise, Idaho, Mary (Ken) Keelan of Boulder, Colorado and Janelle (fiance' James Jones) Laitinen of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
