Lois Eleanor (Turner) Brandt, the daughter of Harry Nichols and Mary E. "Mae" (Mill) Turner, was born May 3, 1915 in Clayton County, five miles south of Luana,Iowa. She passed away Thursday, March 26, 1998, in the Good Samaritan Center at Postville, Iowa.
She was baptized in the Methodist Church in Monona and later became a member of the Community Presbyterian Church at Postville, Iowa. Lois attended the country school near Luana and was graduated from the Postville High School in 1931.
On March 5, 1927* Lois was married to Ewald Charles Frederick Brandt. The couple farmed three miles south of Postville until 1974 when they moved to Postville. Lois helped with the milking chores and they received several dairy awards. She also enjoyed working in the garden. Her family was special to her and she would prepare their favorite foods, including her famous chocolate chip cookies.
She is survived by her children: Fred and wife, Geri, of Evergreen, CO; Robert and wife, Elizabeth, of Postville, IA; Roland James and wife, Sherry, of West Bloomfield, MI; P. Jean Nelson of Hibbing, MN; June and husband, Steve Weis, of Osage, IA; Beverly and husband, Dennis Madison, of Lincoln, NE; 23 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and two brothers: Dale Turner and wife, Eunice and Boyd Turner and wife, Merle, all of Postville; other relatives and many friends.
Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband, Ewald, who died in 1994; a daughter, Belva Radloff; two grandsons, Lane Radloff and his wife, Rhonda, Richard Evan Brandt; a son-in-law, Francis Nelson; two sisters, Joyce Kerr and Ruth Turner; and a brother, Harold Turner.
Lois was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville and a past member of the Henderson Prairie Study Club.
