Harvey Heins

Funeral services for Harvey Heins of Gunder, were held Monday, April 8, 2002, 1:30 p.m. at the Schutte Funeral Home in Postville, Iowa. The Reverend James Allison of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville officiated. Special music was provided by Ronald Meyer and Joan Martins, organist. Casket bearers were Harold Peterson, Troy Sutter, Benny Marovets, Dann Jungjohann. Arrangements were by Schutte Funeral and Cremation Service. Burial was in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery at Monona, Iowa.

Harvey Edward Heins, the son of Ed and Clara Leonora (Kuthe) Heins, was born December 25, 1917 at Luana, Iowa. He passed away Friday, April 5, 2002 Central Community Hospital at Elkader, Iowa. He had reached the age of 84 years, three months, and ten days. He was baptized March 25, 1918 by the Reverend E. Schmidt and confirmed March 13, 1932 by the Reverend H. P. Kumpf. Harvey attended the Luana School. He lived and farmed in the Luana area. He also worked as a hired hand for many of the farmers in the area. Harvey was employed assembling trailer homes in Guttenberg until 1959, when he moved to Gunder.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Welmer Heins.

Surviving are two daughters, Mary (Louis) Sutter, and Rita (Bob) Smith, all of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two grandsons, Troy Sutter and Danny Jungjohann; four great grandchildren, Dustin, Kendra, and Amber Jungjohann, and Nicole Sutter; a brother, Harold Heins of Clermont, Iowa, and two sisters, Darlene Heins of New Hampton and Aleta L. (Roger) Reeder, of Elgin, Iowa.
