Ben Anton Marovets

Ben Anton Marovets, 91, McGregor, Iowa, died Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at Central Community Hospital, Elkader, Iowa. Ben was born on August 4, 1919, rural Monona, Iowa, to Anton and Hazel (Huffman) Marovets. He attended country school through the sixth grade and then began his career in farming.

Ben was united in marriage to Evelyn Kleppe on October 11, 1946, at First Lutheran Church, rural Ossian, Iowa. They were the proud parents of three children. Ben and Evelyn farmed together east of Monona, Iowa, for their entire married life until retirement. Ben was a bee keeper for many years and enjoyed dancing, hunting, fishing, gardening and growing potatoes.
He will be greatly missed by his many family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Marovets, McGregor; three children, Stanley (Joyce) Marovets, Monona, Karon (Richard) Bahls, Elkader, Keith (Pat) Marovets, Luana; nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Anthony "Jack" Marovets, Guttenberg and Margaret Koopmann, Peterson.

Ben was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert Marovets and two sisters, Rosemary Koopmann and Anna Mae Leas.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Living Faith United Methodist Parish, Monona, Iowa. The Rev. Dennis Gilbert will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Monona Cemetery, Monona, Iowa.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 8, 2011, from 3-7 p.m. at the Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Monona, Iowa, and one hour before services at the church on Saturday.

Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Monona, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements.
