Funeral services for Kenneth Walter were held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Monona, Iowa, Saturday September 29 at 11 a.m. Father John Moran and Father Robert Levenhagen officiated. Burial was in the St. Patrick's Catholic Church Cemetery, Monona, Iowa. Schultz Funeral Home was in charge of services. Casket bearers were Jim Walter, Robert Sass, Gene Walter, James Eno, Bill Eno, and John Eno. Honorary pallbearers were Virgil Wessels, George Klein, Milt Ponsar, Kenneth Koth, George Burger, Gilbert Barnhardt, Sr., Neil meyer, Bob Niehaus, and Joe Spielbauer.

Kenneth Elmer Walter, son of Joseph and Amanda (Koth) Walter, was born March 3, 1909 in Wagner Township, Clayton County, Iowa, near Luana. He was baptized by Father Luke Donlon and confirmed in St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Monona, Iowa where he remained a lifetime member. He graduated from high school in Farmersburg and attended Iowa State in Ames, Iowa where he graduated in 1932. While in school he was a member of the A. G. R. Fraternity, National Dairy Judging Team and later a 4-H leader. He went on to be a herdsman in the east and showed cattle for the J.C. Penney and Maytag farms. On August 11, 1941 he married LaVonne Schmelzer at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Monona, Iowa. He started farming on the home farm, where he remained until his death. He served on the Boards of Directors of Clayton County Farm Service, Clayton County Farm Bureau and Farm and Home Administration for many years.

Kenneth Elmer Walter died at his home near Luana, Iowa on Wednesday, September 26, 1990. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Surviving is his wife, LaVonne; one son, Edward J. Walter of Washington, Iowa, 1 daughter, Deborah (Joseph) Johanningmeier of McGregor, Iowa; 4 grandchildren and 1 brother Lester Walter of Elkader, Iowa.
