Henry W. Rizer - Obituary
Funeral services for Henry W. Rizer, 88, for many years a resident of the Silver Creek community southwest of Manchester, who died here at the home of his son Walter, were held at the Methodist church, Rev. C.C. Winter, pastor, officiating. Burial was made in Asbury cemetery northeast of Edgewood.

A son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Rizer, he was born in Ohio on Oct 1, 1851. On Oct 1, 1872 he was married to Artamissa Fleming who died July 26, 1895. Four children were born of this marriage, three of whom survive: W.A. Rizer of Lamont, James of the Silver Creek community and Mrs. Lucy Conklin of Waterloo. One daughter, Mrs. Eliza Brown, preceded him in death.

Mr. Rizer was married to Mrs. Ellen Toole July 26, 1897. She died Feb 6, 1909. One daughter was born to this marriage, Mrs. Ida Cernkovich of Streator, Il. In October, 1911, Mr. Rizer was married to Miss Mary Puffet of Lamont, who died in February, 1924. He has since made his home with his children.

Surviving are his children, two step-sons, H.J. Toole of Lamont and Ray Toole of Butte, Mont., one step-daughter, Mrs. Jessie Bowers of Waterloo; 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Mr. Rizer was a member of the Methodist church and helped organize and build the first Methodist church at Asbury, eight miles northeast of Edgewood. His death marks the passing of one of the old settlers of the Asbury community between Edgewood and Elkport.

Those from Edgewood who attended his funeral services were Mr. and Mrs. Ray Rizer, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Rizer, Mr. and Mrs. Alton Rizer, Mrs. Hugh Weir, Mrs. John Reedy, Mrs. John Angles, Mrs. Lloyd Romig, Mrs. Mabel McGee and E.J. Romig.
